New Rider Resources

  • Learn To Ride (any state)

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) is a resource to find providers of basic/advanced courses that you can get your license through (sometimes for free). You don’t even need a motorcycle for the beginner courses. In certain states, Pennsylvania for example, the classes are completely free through certain providers. These may differ from state to state but you can find that information on your states DMV website. This is how I got my license and I highly recommend the courses, which may even give you discounts on motorcycle insurance.

  • Learn To Ride (Pennsylvania)

The coaching academy that offers free courses in PA is called Total Control Training (aka: learntoridepa.com) and it is who I got my license through and took advanced courses. (Total control offers them all for free for PA residents!). If you are new, you don’t even need a motorcycle. Click below to find courses near you from Total Control (or other coaching providers who may not all offer free courses).

  • Helpful Guides for New Riders from the Experts at RevZilla

The ZLA team took the time to put together blogs on how to buy your first motorcycle, how to pick gear, how to get your license, and more. Here is their comprehensive resource page for new riders.

  • New Riders Subreddit

A subreddit specific for new riders. A lot of good questions and answers about what motorcycles are good for beginners can be found here.
